Privacy Policy

Overview

This policy explains how the Snapchat Story Downloader Chrome extension (“the Extension”) handles information when you use it. The Extension is designed to download a Snapchat Profile Story, Discover video, or Spotlight video that you choose and can already view.

The Extension does not collect Snapchat passwords, cookies, private messages, or a list of your unrelated browsing history. It does not sell personal information or use information for advertising.

Information handled by the Extension

• Website content and media metadata. The Extension reads the current Snapchat page and its network responses to identify the selected Profile Story, Discover video, or Spotlight video. This can include a profile username, content or highlight identifier, signed media URL, media type, title, and available dimensions. This information is processed in your browser, kept only as needed for the page and download, and is not sent to us.
• Local usage data. Chrome storage keeps the current local date, the number of successfully started free downloads for that day, and short-lived download reservations. This information is used only to provide the three-download daily allowance and is not sent to us.
• Membership data. The Extension creates a random identifier beginning with ssd_ and stores it locally together with the latest membership status, billing-period end date, and related transaction identifiers. The random identifier is sent to the membership service when the Extension checks Pro status, restores a purchase, or opens checkout.
• Restore Purchase email. If you choose Restore Purchase, the email address you enter is sent over HTTPS to the membership service and Paddle to find a matching active purchase. The Extension does not save that email locally. A successful restore also creates an operational support notification containing the email address, random identifier, and transaction identifier.
• Network and security data. Cloudflare processes the IP address and ordinary request metadata needed to deliver and secure the membership service. Restore Purchase uses the IP address for short-term rate limiting to reduce abuse.

Payments

Paid subscriptions are processed by Paddle. Paddle may collect contact, billing, payment, tax, and transaction information under its own privacy policy. The Extension does not receive or store complete card details.

Service providers and sharing

Information is shared only when needed to provide the Extension:

• Cloudflare hosts the membership service, provides network security, and applies Restore Purchase rate limits.
• Paddle provides checkout, subscription management, transaction records, and purchase matching.
• Our email service provider delivers operational payment, restore, and error notifications to the support mailbox.

We do not sell user data, share it with data brokers, or transfer it for personalized advertising, credit scoring, or lending.

Storage and retention

Local usage and membership data remain in Chrome until you clear the Extension’s data or uninstall it. Signed Snapchat media URLs are not retained by the membership service. Operational support notifications are retained only as reasonably needed for customer support, fraud prevention, payment reconciliation, and legal obligations. Paddle and Cloudflare retain information according to their own policies and applicable law.

Your choices

• You can use the free allowance without providing an email address.
• You can avoid sending an email by not using Restore Purchase.
• You can clear local data through Chrome or uninstall the Extension.
• You can contact us to ask about personal information associated with a purchase or restore request.

Security and limited use

Data sent to the membership service is transmitted over HTTPS. Access is limited to what is needed to operate downloads, membership checks, checkout, purchase restoration, customer support, security, and legal compliance.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Children

The Extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the Extension or its data practices change. The revised policy will be posted at this address with an updated date.
